The Contractor completed concrete work last week. Sidewalk gaps that currently have temporary access stone will be installed during the City’s 2020 Streets Resurfacing Program.
It is anticipated that roadway patching work will begin early to mid this week. Patching is to be completed along Willow, Linden and Birch over the course of several days. Parkway restoration will begin after the roadway patching work is completed and is expected to be finished in May.

The Contractor completed all of the underground work last week. The site is being prepared for concrete work and roadway patching. It is expected that concrete work will resume towards the end of this week, and continue into next week. Concrete sidewalks will be marked with construction tape the day that is has been poured. Residents who will have the access to their driveways impacted will be informed and asked to park their vehicles on the road while the concrete cures.
Roadway patching will begin following the installation of concrete sidewalk and curb. Patching is expected to begin as early as late next week. Willow, Linden and Birch will be completed over the course of several days. Affected residents will be informed the day prior to accommodate vehicle access. A landscaper will be on site to prepare topsoil and lay sod after asphalt work is completed. The restoration work is expected to be finished in May. Last week, the services for all of the residences on Willow Lane were replacements. They are now connected to the new water main. The water main on Linden and Birch was pressurized, chlorinated and tested.
Starting Monday, 4/6/2020, water services will be installed on Birch Lane and Linden Lane south of Oak. Service replacements will require the water to be shut off to individual residences for 30 to 60 minutes. A member of the crew will knock on the door and inform residents prior to shutting off the water. Notices have been delivered to residents who will have their service replaced this week. Last week, the water main installation was completed on Birch Lane and Linden Lane. The water main will be pressure tested and chlorinated this week. The water main on Willow was pressurized, chlorinated and tested.

Starting on Monday, March 23rd, the Contractor will begin installing new water main on Linden Lane. The main will be installed between Birch and Oak on the east side of the street. Later in the week, new water main will be installed on Birch between Linden and Carr. On Tuesday, March 24th, the Contractor expects to disconnect a valve on Linden Lane, which will require a shutdown. Residents affected by the shutdown will receive a notice the day prior to this work occurring. The duration of the shut-off will be as short as possible to accommodate the need for additional hygiene and the increased number of residents who will be home during the day. Starting on Monday, March 16th, the Contractor will begin grinding the pavement on Willow Lane. This work will occur on the south side of Willow between Carr and Linden. The Contractor will also begin water main installation on Willow, just west of Carr. Proposed water main is expected to be installed along all of Willow Lane this week.
On Tuesday, March 17th, the Contractor expects to disconnect a valve on Willow Lane, which will require a shutdown. Residents affected by the shutdown will receive a notice the day prior to this work occurring. Starting on Friday, March 13th, J. Congdon Water and Sewer Service will begin mobilization for Phase II of the project. Phase II will include the installation of water main and services on Willow, Birch, and Linden south of Oak.
The contractor will be delivering equipment and materials to the project site, which will be stored in the street and in the parkway between the curb and the sidewalk where sections of water main are scheduled to be installed. Next week, the Contractor will begin installing water main on Willow Lane. School Districts 15 and 214 have been made aware of the scheduled work and will modify bus routes accordingly to avoid the construction area. Landscape restoration activities anticipated to be completed earlier this month were delayed due to weather. Late last week, the contractor was able to begin preparing areas and installing topsoil throughout the project limits. Topsoil installation is anticipated to be completed by the middle of this week, before Thanksgiving. Installation of sod is anticipated to be completed next week.
The remainder of the pavement patching on Carr Street, Birch Lane, Weber Drive, and within the East Park Apartment Complex Parking Lot was completed last week. This week the contractor completed concrete curb, sidewalk and driveway replacements along the streets impacted by construction this year. Construction equipment and materials are being removed from the site in preparation for the winter shutdown period. Weather pending, installation of topsoil and sod is expected to begin next Tuesday, November 12th and be completed by the end of next week.
Remaining water main and service installations in the Phase 2 area along Linden Lane (Oak Lane to Birch Lane), Willow Lane (Linden Lane to Carr Street), and Birch Lane (Linden Lane to Carr Street) will resume next spring and be completed by the end of June 2020. Pavement patching was completed last week along Linden Lane and most of Weber Drive. The contractor anticipates completing water service installations along Carr Street and connecting proposed water mains to the existing water mains at the intersections of Willow Lane and Carr Street and Birch Lane and Carr Street by the end of this week. Pavement patching on Cedar Street and concrete work at various locations throughout the project limits will also occur this week. Residents affected by these activities will receive a notice the day prior to work occurring.
Next week, the contractor anticipates connecting the proposed water main to the existing water main within the East Park Apartments northeast parking lot. City and ERA staff are working closely with the East Park Apartments management staff to provide notice to residents affected by this shutdown. By next week, the water main work for this year will be substantially completed in the Phase I area. Pavement and parkway restoration activities will continue in advance of the November 22, 2019 completion date. Additional updates will be provided into November as the work progresses. Remaining water main and service installations in the Phase 2 area along Linden Lane (Oak Lane to Birch Lane), Willow Lane (Linden Lane to Carr Street), and Birch Lane (Linden Lane to Carr Street) will resume next spring. |
